The year 2020 has been a roller coaster for the whole world. Even Christmas changed the way it used to be. I love this time of the year. All the festivities like Christmas lights, pictures with Santa, train rides, gingerbread house displays, and so on. Things have been changed this year due to COVID, but one thing you can’t miss is Christmas lights. Today I am sharing my experience of the “Thoroughbred Christmas lights display” in Rancho Cucamonga.
I moved to this neighborhood couple of weeks ago and was busy unpacking my stuff. With all the moving and unpacking, I was finally able to take out the time to see some Christmas lights. I found a Thoroughbred Christmas light displayed when I was searching for the one in the area. You can notice on my blog, and I already shared Candy Cane Lane Christmas Lights West Allis, Wisconsin.

The display runs from the beginning of December 4th to 24th, 5:00 pm to 11 pm. Every year all the residents decorate their houses and turn the neighborhood into Christmas land. You can see people walking around capturing those perfect shots and enjoy the Christmas spirit.
But for the 2020 season, they have introduced special safety measurements. For the safety of residents and visitors, public gathering restrictions have been imposed. The Thoroughbred Holiday Light Display area has been designated as Drive-Thru Only. The original ordinance was established to reduce vehicles and pedestrians’ mix during peak evening and weekend hours. This Drive-Thru Only ordinance has been expanded for the 2020 season.
Christmas 2020
This trip wasn’t pre-planned. I read that the display was so nice you have to wait in long lines and wait can be up to 3 hours. Hence, I was wondering which day we should go to. As it was rainy and cold for the last two days, we stayed in. Last night after dinner at 9 pm, we discussed how the holiday season of 2020 is different from the rest of the year. At that moment, we realized we haven’t been to any Christmas light display, and it totally slipped from our minds. That’s when we decided to hit the road. It’s just 11 miles away from my place.
As we went there late, it wasn’t crowded. I didn’t have a map, so we just entered Thoroughbred Christmas Lights in the GPS and followed the direction. I would recommend you to follow the directions shown below. Their website recommends this map.
We entered from the thoroughbred street, and we were stunned by the decorations residents have put up. How are they able to do it? It was just incredible. We also saw a house that has a kind of light show. You tune in to the FM and enjoy the show with music. Isn’t it amazing?
We basically followed the other cars and enjoyed the display. I did miss the hot chocolate stand, and I hope next year there will be a normal Christmas where we can all get together and have fun with family and friends. How was your Christmas?
