There is nothing quite like the freedom and sense of adventure that comes with a road trip. There are two things in my bucket list for this year’s camping and a road trip. I did a road trip before 2 years, it was so much fun and now it’s time to do it again. Here I am listing 4 beautiful road trips you shouldn’t miss. From these four, I have done 1st one and the rest of the three are on my bucket list. For a good road trip putting effort to prepare the itinerary is very important.
4 beautiful road trips you shouldn’t miss
That incredible feeling has been captured by some of the great films over the years. This is acting as inspiration for millions of us all over the world. But where do you begin if you are planning your own road trip? Well, here are four incredible routes that you simply cannot afford to miss.
1. Big Sur, USA
Perhaps the most iconic road trip of them all – California Highway 1 is a truly stunning route. Fly into San Francisco and then drive south through the seaside town of Monterrey and the beautiful Carmel, before striking on out this incredible stretch of road that snakes its way along the coastline, high above the Pacific Ocean. The stretch between Carmel and Big Sur may be the most beautiful stretch of road in the world. You will want to stop constantly to take pictures, marvel at the wildlife in the blue waters and take it all in. And we don’t blame you. If you are heading to the US it is worth checking out Ben Groundwater’s advice on dos and don’ts there before you set off.
2. The Garden Route, South Africa
Another stunningly beautiful part of the world, the Garden Route has long been viewed as one of the best road trips on earth. There are numerous vineyards along this 300 km stretch, many beautiful national parks – such as the Tsitsikamma National Park – and it is a fantastic way to see the coastline. If you can, it is worth stopping at Plettenberg Bay, or the town of Knysna is also a charming destination for a stop-off. However, you decide to explore it, you won’t be disappointed.
3. The Amalfi Coast Road, Italy
Italy is hard to beat, and this coastline may just be the most beautiful part of this incredible country. The road that stretches along the Amalfi coast is slow, winding and perches almost impossibly on the cliff tops above some spectacular towns that are dotted along its length. Start in Sorrento, which is a lovely little town in its own right and a good place to take boat trips along the coast and to the island of Capri. If you are traveling in peak season, set off early and choose two towns to stop in. Positano and Ravello are two of the most picturesque. And lunch at Rossellinis in Ravello will never disappoint.

4. The North Coast 500, Scotland
This incredible road trip has not been around for long. It has been opened in 2015, but what it lacks in terms of history it more than makes up for with scenery. The road is a circular trail that begins and ends at the spectacular Inverness Castle and takes you up to the very north of mainland Scotland, into areas that boast undisturbed natural beauty, castles, lochs, and even the odd snow-capped mountain. The route is some 516 miles long and is already being labeled as Scotland’s Route 66.
